The Granta cobot palletising system has a very advanced 30kg cobot which can run in collaborative mode as well as in industrial robot mode to optimise speeds and payloads for palletising. Key features of the cobot palletiser include;
30kg payload collaborative robot
Sturdy industrial grade cobot designed for 24/7 use
Easy programming software
Variety of gripper options available
Quick to install
Available with or without guarding
The main benefit of a cobot is that it has intelligent force sensing built in and can work alongside humans in collaborative mode. In collaborative mode the cobot runs slower and if it senses any unexpected forces it immediately stops until the safety on the cobot is re-set. When full safety is in place and no-one is inside the safe zone, the cobot runs at full speeds in industrial robot mode.
The standard Granta cobot system is available in 3 versions:
With no guarding, light curtains or safety scanners – This only has one mode of operation which is collaborative mode at collaborative robot speeds. This is because there is no extra safety in place to enable it to run in the faster industrial robot mode.
With guarding around the cell and a light curtain for entry - In normal operation this runs at full speed as an industrial robot, then when the light curtain is broken the cobot goes into collaborative mode and continues running but at collaborative speeds. The cobot will continue at collaborative speeds until the safety is re-set by the operator confirming the guarded zone is clear and safe again.
With safety areas scanners around the cell - In normal operation this runs at full speed as an industrial robot, then when the safety area scanners detect someone moving into the safety zone the cobot goes into collaborative mode and continues running but at collaborative speeds. The cobot will continue at collaborative speeds until the safety zone is re-set by the operator to confirm it is clear and safe again.
Below are some typical layouts of the cobot system:
Cobot Palletiser Double Lane With Guarding
This double lane cobot palletiser has guarding around and a light curtain at the front. The cobot runs fast in industrial robot mode, then when the light curtain is broken, the cobot slows to collaborative mode.
Cobot Palletiser Double Lane With Area Scanner
This double lane cobot palletiser has a safety area scanner around it. The cobot runs fast in industrial robot mode, then when the area scanner detects motion near the palletiser, the cobot slows to collaborative mode.
Cobot Palletiser Single Lane With Guarding
This single lane cobot palletiser has guarding around and a light curtain at the front. The cobot runs fast in industrial robot mode, then when the light curtain is broken, the cobot slows to collaborative mode.
Cobot Palletiser Single Lane With Area Scanner
This single lane cobot palletiser has a safety area scanner around it. The cobot runs fast in industrial robot mode, then when the area scanner detects motion near the palletiser, the cobot slows to collaborative mode.
Cobot Palletiser with AMR
All of the cobot palletising systems can be used with AMRs (autonomous mobile robots) for pallet loading and take off.
Cobot Palletiser with AGV
All of the cobot palletising systems can be used with AGVs (automated guided vehicles) for pallet loading and take off.
Double Lane Cobot Palletiser Safety Zone
The pink zone indicates the area the safety scanner is scanning on a double lane system. The cobot runs fast in industrial robot mode, then when the area scanner detects motion within the pink scanner area, the cobot slows to collaborative mode.
Single Lane Cobot Palletiser Safety Zone
The pink zone indicates the area the safety scanner is scanning on a single lane system. The cobot runs fast in industrial robot mode, then when the area scanner detects motion within the pink scanner area, the cobot slows to collaborative mode.

Payback is often less than 1 year due to labour saving, production increase, reduced HR.
Typically +40% due to: no holidays or breaks, forced takt time, longer working hours, faster speeds etc.
H&S claims reduced to zero as all manual handing is now done by the robotic palletiser.
